Lion King > all this 3d stuff
Well said, Mr. Lasseter.
always i here this guy i carry on 3D modeling yahoooo
Good point
I couldn’t agree with John Lasseter more.
I totally agree with John. Even though I LOVE the 3-D Animation medium (All thanks to Pixar!), Hand-Drawn will always have a place in my heart. It’s so disappointing when people use technology as an excuse to not use a different medium. Who said it had to be made with the newest latest technology around? I donno about anyone else, I’m just looking for a well told story (on the appropriate medium of course.)
Thank you, John. Maybe I can actually get a job after animation school if “Princess and the Frog” does well.
It’s a good thing that we’re returning to hand-drawn animation. It’ll attract more audiences that the Pixar films.
for those people who think that hand drawn and 2d animation is poor, just look at anything by ghibli. i mean princess mononoke can easily beat in both style an story,so many Hollywood 3d children’s films.
excellent. Very well put. Great to see these videos being shared too. Its inspiring and very helpful to someone following the same path, and having some of the greatest storytellers doing it.
*clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *applause*
U guys should make a short 4 Louis or Ray for the DVD/Blu-Ray and what they were doing before they met Naveen and Tiana!
That’d be great!
While 3D is good, hand-drawn in a way is more accessible.
As a kid, it’s so cool to realize, you can draw something…and make it move! I had breakfast with some people, and the little girl who was with them seemed bored. I did 2-3 images of a fish swishing it’s tail, and her eyes lit up. It’s the simplest kind of magic you can do.
My Dad did that once when he brought home these little mini notepads, and he drew a little stick figure doing a cartwheel.
I couldn’t agree more with what John is saying. The unfortunate thing about Disney’s features in the 90’s is that a lot of them DID become “so-so films” and they had the wrong idea when they thought it was because of how they were animated. Let’s hope that “The Princess and the Frog” fixes this lousy misconception.
As a hand-drawn animator myself, it makes my soul leap a little bit every time something new comes out. There is something passionate and beautiful in the detail of hand-drawn animation that you just don’t get with computer animation, at least not in the same way.
I miss the cell-painted days sometimes.
That would be something and Pixar would show Dreamworks that CGI isn’t everything
Lots of filmmakers have become so enamored with the special effects they can do that they cobble together a story or throw in an unnecessary character just to show off the technology. These movies make money because of whoever’s behind it (and those filmmakers DID make good movies twenty years ago), so the films with rubbish stories continue to get made.
Now that I’ve made a short story long: bravo Pixar, for caring more about the stories they tell than the tools they use to tell them!
I am sorry john lasseter, even though i agree with you 100%, the different camera trick somehow works on video gaming
Proof: Killzone 2, Because high quality graphics=good game and nothing else.
